To the owners of any of the Focusrite interfaces from the Scarlett range and either Windows 8 or 10, you may be experiencing a really annoying issue where your audio slows down after booting your PC.
Well good news!
There are a couple of ways of sorting this out.
Method 1 – Disable Fast Boot:
This is my preferred method of fixing the audio slow down. I’m not entirely sure why fast boot causes the issue but anyway, lets disable it!
Go to “Control Panel”
Click (or tap if you are fancy) “Hardware and Sound”
Select “Power Options”
In “Power Options”, click on “Choose what the power button does”. This should open a new window.
In this new window untick (or deselect) the “Turn on fast start-up” option
Once you have done all of that you will hopefully find that the next time you boot up your computer the audio issue will no longer be present.
Method 2 – Unplug the USB
Says it all really, well, half of it. So this method is more for people who either don’t want to disable fast boot or find that disabling fast boot didn’t work.
So let’s get started:
Wipe the beads of sweat off your brow
Take deep breaths
Cautiously wrap you shaking fingers around the USB cable in the back of the interface
Unplug the USB from the interface
Plug the USB back into the interface
That should sort you out. The only issue being that you will have to do that each time you start up the computer.
I hope that some of you find this helpful in some capacity. If you are looking for more tips and tricks check out “Optimize Your PC For Audio Production“
